Copywriting as a Cybersecurity Analyst Shadow Session -NOV 9
The scenario for this seminar involved the Coach being a Cybersecurity Copywriter for Living Security. They had to write a blog post announcing the deployment of a FireEye product implementation plan. The objective was to learn to write effectively about technical topics. Since it was a shadow session it mostly involved the Coach performing the task and the audience watching and asking questions about anything they need help with. Another cool session, but it was held from 3:00 AM to 4:00 AM IST, so honestly I don't really remember a lot of what happened. I was half asleep. There weren't any supplemental materials provided this time.
Anyways, the Coach led us through the process of developing a technical write-up, which included going over the available resources online, ensuring relevant compliance, referencing the internet whenever coming across new words, etc. I didn't ask any questions, which I do regret, but honestly, I was worried about typing out absolute nonsense because it was like 4 AM. But it was still a fun seminar to attend because I had worked on technical writing in the past, while in the university's robotics team. Other people were really interactive and the Coach was a lot of fun too. If I were coherent enough, I would have liked to ask how someone would go about pursuing a career as a technical writer. I would also have liked to ask how is it ensured that no sensitive information about the company is leaked by the Technical writers, and what level of access or privilege they have within a company generally.
All in all, loads of fun. I woke up at 11 the next day though. But, worth it.
